Wallet already created? At Insel-Camp Fehmarn, it is now possible to pay with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin – currently the best known – in addition to traditional means of payment. As far as we know, this makes the five-star establishment the first campsite in the German-speaking world to do so.
Owner Katherin Kleingarn is therefore focusing on innovation:
“Bitcoins are a legal digital payment option that simplifies the payment method. The transfer is usually processed within a few minutes from sender to recipient. More and more consumers have accumulated bitcoins and want to spend them in digital payment transactions,” explains the young entrepreneur, who took over the award-winning business from her mother last year. “Cryptocurrencies are one of the most important payment innovations of recent years. We are therefore delighted to be the first camping business to offer our guests this payment option.”
Into the waves with Wallet…
To be able to pay for a real camping trip to the Baltic Sea beach virtually with cryptocurrency, you need a digital wallet on your smartphone or computer. This can be created easily and without any bureaucratic hurdles.
“More than half of the bookings at Insel-Camp Fehmarn are made online – so it is only logical and forward-looking that we also want to offer new “digital payment methods” from now on,” explains Kleingarn. And, of course, she also believes that this could result in a whole new customer segment.
