Working on vacation?! At Insel-Camp Fehmarn – the five-star campsite in a prime location directly on the Baltic Sea beach – everything is available to live the modern work/life style ‘Workation’ – vacation and work mix – comfortably.
More and more guests want to be able to make phone calls, take part in online meetings, open their laptops and do a few things undisturbed while traveling before meeting up with the family again or going to the beach for a swim, owner Katherin Kleingarn knows from her own experience. Remote work offers in companies and the increasingly natural digital workflow mean that it is much easier to combine leisure time and work, allowing you to come in a few days early or stay longer at your favorite place.
Combining working time with vacation time is a great way of living a freer life, which has become more of a focus due to increasing digitalization.
That’s why Katherin Kleingarn has converted the existing “beach box” in her space into a dedicated coworking station as an “open space” area. The 3-5 workstations, where you can work undisturbed, offer an inspiring atmosphere and the most important thing: there is satellite-controlled internet access via Starlink.
Starlink is the satellite internet from SpaceX, Elon Musk’s space and rocket project. It offers high-speed internet in which the data signals are not transported via earthbound cables, but by laser at the speed of light via satellites. This makes the signal even faster than fiber optics.
Ideal for a ‘quick retreat’ or to sit outside with a beanbag under the awning when the weather is nice. And if you’ve forgotten your charging cable, no problem: an inductive charging station makes it easy to charge your smartphone or Airpods wirelessly on site.
The Working Box can also be rented privately by the hour if you want to have very confidential conversations or simply need complete peace and quiet or “ME-time”.
The special feature: access is possible 24 hours a day, so any time difference for remote work or the time at which you can work well doesn’t matter, because as we all know, this is different for everyone.
Katherin has deliberately dispensed with the offer of printer/fax and co. and wants to concentrate on the most important things: Atmosphere, good Wi-Fi and peace and quiet!
Recently, a guest asked about the possibility of attending a relatively spontaneous job interview. Without the coworking space, where he could do this in peace and quiet, he would have had to leave.
Or an (admittedly) annoyed family man who simply hadn’t managed to get a few things done before he left. He asked if there was a place where he could do them other than between the kids in the awning.
This makes it easy to combine a longer stay with work: do a few things early in the morning as a “lark”, go to the beach or the on-site sauna in the afternoon before enjoying a delicious meal with friends or family in the restaurant in the evening. Or maybe you’d rather send a few emails late in the evening and relax during the day. That’s work/life balance at its best!
This season, the Insel-Camp wants to test how the new offer is used and then see what else is wanted and how the offer can be further expanded. Katherin Kleingarn is excited. She can well imagine from her own experience that the offer will be widely used.
It’s worth trying it out!
Every guest who wants to work in the coworking box can get the password at the reception of the island camp (the Starlink network only works in the box or a few meters around the box).
The box can also be rented privately: please contact the reception.
